Sumballō

Returning to Ireland after 14 years in South Africa, Sumballō explores the concept of the ‘relational’, within the context of a Christian faith. The photographs are meditations of the wrestle to bring together in one’s mind, a conferring with one’s self, the act of faith, and the hope in things not yet seen.

Many things we do, we seem to do in a mode of knowing unknowing. The work documents a way back ‘to the things themselves’, towards understanding, towards surrender.
